I’m really hungry
As I mowed my lawn this morning I thought, “I’m really hungry”! In a few minutes I had the thought again, and all of a sudden I heard an inner voice; … you know the one… the one you can’t ignore, forget, rebuke… the one that in order to move on you have to respond to; saying “hungry for what”. Well if you attend our church you know that the Pastor has called the church to a 21 day Daniel Fast and today is day 13, so I was really hungry for some MEAT. But I knew that was not the answer to satisfy that inner voice, so I began to really think about what it was that I was really hungry for.
All day long the question has been haunting me…what are you really hungry for? I am not a big fan of fasting… I do it when God calls me to … but it is not enjoyable for me until I begin to see the results begin to manifest. I’m all about being real these days, so I am not going to say even when the results begin to manifest that the fast is enjoyable, but the results that God brings to my life during a fast… they are enjoyable. It’s always enjoyable to look back and see that God has worked HIS work in my life.
The first Sunday the Pastor preached on fasting, and one of his main points was that you should target your prayer and fasting toward things that you need God to do. I began to do that when we started with Daniel 13 days ago, and I can tell you, that we have seen some very remarkable things happen already, in our business. A house I have had for sale for 11 months, went under contract on day 4. That’s only one of several things that we targeted with our fast.
So tonight as I think of that, I AM REALLY HUNGRY. I’m hungry for God to move in my life. I’m hungry for God to continue to change me and make me a better person. I’m hungry to be a better husband, a better father, a better papa to the 6 little people in my life. I’m hungry to make a difference in my world, to see my friends who don’t know Jesus come to know him. I’m hungry for a lost and hurting world to find Jesus, the only answer to their hurts. I’m hungry to follow God in all that He asks me to do.
I’m hungry to live on the HIGH ROAD. I’m really hungry for God. Smokey Bones will be waiting when I am done with Daniel but “Lord during this FAST please make me more hungry for YOU.”
What are you hungry for tonight?
Let’s live on the HIGH ROAD.
